If you are planning to fish in the Croatian Adriatic in 2027, here is an overview of the key changes: new recreational fishing licence prices, purchase deadlines and mandatory catch recording through the mRecFish application.
New Recreational Fishing Licence Prices for 2027
Annual and 150-day licence prices will increase for 2027. The seven-day licence remains €45. Its price already increased from €39.82 to €45 on 1 June 2026, so there is no further increase for 2027.
Under the Regulations on Sport and Recreational Sea Fishing (Official Gazette No. 48/2026), the prices are as follows:
| Licence type | 2026 | 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Seven-day licence | €45* | €45 |
| Annual licence – standard category for adults under 65 | €66.36 | €75 |
| 150-day licence – standard category for adults under 65 | €99.54 | €110 |
| Annual or 150-day licence – persons aged 65 or over | €13.27 | €18 |
| Annual or 150-day licence – minors | €13.27 | €15 |
*The seven-day licence has cost €45 since 1 June 2026.
How Is Your Age Category Determined?
Your age category is based on the age you reach by the end of the calendar year for which the licence is purchased, rather than your age on the purchase date.
For example, someone turning 18 in December 2027 must purchase an adult licence for 2027. Similarly, someone turning 65 at any point during 2027 qualifies for the rate for persons aged 65 or over for that licence year.
When Can You Buy an Annual Licence?
Annual licences for 2027 can be purchased from 1 December 2026 up to and including 1 March 2027.
You cannot choose a later start date:
A licence purchased in December 2026 becomes valid on 1 January 2027.
A licence purchased during January, February or on 1 March 2027 becomes valid the day after purchase.
All annual licences for 2027 expire on 31 December 2027. They are not valid for 365 days from the purchase date.
If you are planning two weeks of fishing or several visits during the year, an annual licence may offer better value. For the standard adult category under 65, it costs €75, compared with €90 for two seven-day licences or €110 for a 150-day licence. Remember to purchase your annual licence by 1 March.
The 150-Day Licence
Once the annual licence purchase period ends, a 150-day licence is available. It can be purchased from 2 March to 30 November 2027.
You cannot choose a later start date for this licence: it becomes valid the day after purchase and lasts for a maximum of 150 days, or until 31 December 2027, whichever comes first.
Seven-Day Licences for Shorter Visits
The seven-day licence is available throughout the year and is valid for 168 hours, meaning seven full days from your chosen start time.
Unlike annual and 150-day licences, a seven-day licence allows you to choose when it starts. You can purchase it in advance—for example, for a fishing trip planned two months later.
New for 2027: Mandatory Catch Recording Through mRecFish
From 1 January 2027, daily catch recording through the mRecFish mobile or web application applies to all anglers holding a standard recreational fishing licence, except holders of annual or 150-day licences issued to:
Minors
Persons aged 65 or over
For these annual and 150-day licence categories, the requirement starts on 1 January 2030.
The record includes information about fishing activity and retained and released catches of the species listed in the regulations. It must be submitted within 24 hours of finishing your fishing activity.
Catch recording for dolphinfish (mahi-mahi) has been mandatory since 15 August 2026, regardless of licence type, including the categories exempted above.
Buying Your Licence Through Mandinus
Mandinus is an authorised seller of recreational fishing licences. You pay the official licence price, with no additional service fee.
To place an order, you will need the angler’s personal details and information from a valid national identity card or passport.
Once payment has been received, we send your licence to your email address, usually within 1–3 working days. We recommend ordering and paying in good time, particularly before weekends and public holidays.
Bringing Your Own Boat?
If you are coming to fish with your own boat or RIB, check the requirements for your vessel as well as your fishing licence.
The vignette refers to the fee for navigation safety and protection of the sea from pollution. Tourist tax is paid separately, where applicable to your vessel and stay on board.
Through Mandinus, you can arrange a new vignette or renew an existing one online, as well as arrange payment of tourist tax—without visiting the harbour master’s office.
